Building of Basecamp in Utah

March 13th, 2005

I’ve wanted to attend 37signals’ “Building of Basecamp” workshop since I heard of the first one they held. I emailed newly hired Signal Jamis Buck to ask if 37signals would ever host the workshop in Utah. He replied…

Seriously, start a petition. If you can show that there is enough interest in the area, I’m sure Jason would consider it. I think you’d probably have to get at least 50 names of people that would have a high likelihood of attending–either living in the area, or willing to travel whatever distance (from Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, etc.).

I’ll be glad to champion it if there is enough interest.

- Jamis

So, consider this blog entry the petition. If you would attend Building of Basecamp, were it held in Utah, please leave your comments on this post so we can see what the interest level would be.

I might as well be the first to sign…I’d be there for sure!

Yes, one vote here for Utah. We’ll also make sure the 37s guys get a good ski in’!

  3. gb Says:

I’d be interested in attending… granted I have no idea what something like this would cost, so that is part of the consideration.

  4. Jason Says:

Gb- The cost is usually around $495 for one person. I know because I tried to sign up for the Chicago workshop this morning but it sold out over the weekend. Hopefully I can still attend the April workshop in Chicago somehow (by getting on a waiting list or talking them into opening another seat) but if I don’t make it to Chicago then I would definitely attend one here.

Brian, have you been playing with Rails much? I haven’t seen many/any posts about your Rails experience yet.

Count one for sure from me (living in Orem). Our development team leader just floated the idea for attending the Chicago one this morning, but then we found out it was sold out. So unless the April 21st session materializes in Chicago, our whole team (five people) would be into a Utah meeting. But even if our team does go to a non-Utah workshop, I’d be able to find an interested party for sure to cover my vote :)

Jason - I have been so busy stuck in the PHP world lately that all I’ve done with rails is a couple of tutorial walk-throughs. I hope to get more time to play with both Rails and ajax.

Jacob - Just curious…where do you work?

I’d come and even bring the CTO Breakfast crowd as well.

I’m with gb, I’d love to attend, but it depends on how much it would cost.
